Sorry to bring down the mood on this post, but I believe this post you are about to read will be a life changing article in the way that you see your life and how you are living it at the moment. This article is written by Bronnie Ware, a palliative care worker who has worked with a countless number of patients who are sadly seeing their last days on earth. When Bronnie had questioned the patients about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

The Top 5 Regrets

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me
This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people have had not honored even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honor at least some of your dreams along the way.

From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn’t work so hard – This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship.

Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.
By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings – Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends – Often they would not truly realize the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier
This is a surprisingly common one.

Many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice.

They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.
When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

A Dream, a vision, a goal, a desire, these are all things most of us know we need when we are working towards success but have somewhere along the line, forgotten why it is so important we follow them through.

Take a look at this list….. Well, let’s call it a reminder of why it is so important to follow your dreams.

The 16 Reasons Why It Is So Important To Follow Your Dreams And Goals

1. The secret of living is giving, if you follow your dreams then you will have something worth sharing with others, hope, inspiration and a meaning to live, and that to me, is a great contribution.

2. Chasing your dreams will develop your courage. Courage is your fuel to achieve amazing success in life, follow your dreams and exercise courage. In sure enough time you will be unstoppable.

3. There is a reason why as kids we loved magic and dreams. Stop chasing your dreams and you will forget how it feels to live hopeful and young.

4. Great dreamers grow to be independent, learning that they can make a difference all by themselves.

5. Dreams can distract you from the negative events in life. You will weigh up what is more important, your dreams or the drama. Drama seems obsolete when you are passionate about following your dreams.

6. It gives you something to share and inspire your kids with; you have led by example that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.

7. Through accomplishing your dreams you will come to appreciate the experience of failure and know that failure is just part of success and that it wasn’t really all that bad as it was all worth it in the end.

8. Regret is a terrible thing, and a dream is powerful enough to bring you regret if you don’t take the chance to at least follow it.

9. Because you are never too old to dream. Age means nothing when we know what we want.

10. You become an interesting person; you show others you have meaning, direction and purpose.

11. The unknown of following your dreams may spark a little fear, this is okay though because a little fear is known to make you feel more alive.

12. It is fun proving the world wrong, so why would you follow the status quo?

13. The more you chase and accomplish your dreams the more the lines of the boundaries that the world puts in front of us fade, as we learn that any and everything is possible.

14. When you accomplish your dream, you are the first to see it happen. You can share your accomplishments with the rest of the world but you were there in the front row on a single chair to experience the magic that unfolded.

15. Your dreams have no limits; you are the creator of your dreams, big or small. When this is understood, you are able to design a way to favor you plan and accomplish your end goal.

16. A dream is strong enough to define you, once accomplished you prove to others they have no say in who you can and can’t be.

Never Give Up on Your Dreams

The above is an article I recently read on the Addicted to Success website and knew that I had to share this with you.

If you have dreams and goals but are not sure how you can achieve them please take a look at our website, we might be able to help you realise them. http://www.icanhelpu.co.uk

Greatness is in the comeback

That is what 22-year-old Cassius Clay (who would become Muhammad Ali) said after defeating Sonny Liston in 1964 to become the heavyweight champion of the world.

But as Ali would prove to us, greatness is not defined in moments of victory; it is defined in the moments after a defeat. Greatness is in the comeback.

Three years after winning the championship, Ali was stripped of his title, had his license suspended and was not allowed to leave the country because of his refusal to be conscripted into the U.S. military.

Without a license to earn a living for nearly four years, Ali went broke. His rival, Joe Frazier, who succeeded Ali as champion, had to loan Ali money to fight his court case to get his license reinstated.

That set the stage for “The Fight of the Century” on March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden (even Frank Sinatra couldn’t get a ringside seat, although he did see the bout while shooting photos for Life magazine).

In the 15th and final round, Frazier floored Ali with a hard left hook. Ali struggled to his feet, his jaw badly swollen, only to suffer several more stunning blows. The decision was unanimous: Frazier retained the title, dealing Ali his first professional loss.

In 1972 and 1973, Ali lost twice, to Elmo Henderson (who?) and Ken Norton (who broke Ali’s jaw). Where’s the greatness?

Later in 1973, Ali defeated Norton in a rematch, and in 1974 he would beat Frazier in the “Ali-Frazier II” bout. But Frazier had already lost his title to Big George Foreman.

Then came “The Rumble in the Jungle” on Oct. 30, 1974, pitting Ali against Foreman.

Almost no one gave the former champion a chance of winning. At 32, ancient in boxing years, Ali had previously lost to Norton and Frazier, while the fearsome 25-year-old Foreman had knocked out both men in only the second round.

In one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, Ali knocked out Foreman in the eighth round to regain his title against all odds.

Ali, once again, was the greatest.

And he kept on fighting, losing his title in February 1978 to 24-year-old Leon Spinks and then defeating Spinks eight months later to become the first three-time heavyweight champion of the world.

While overcoming terrifying boxing opponents, Ali’s greatest foes were outside the ring—the boxing commission, the U.S. government, the media. Standing true to his principles, Ali became a catalyst in opposing the Vietnam War, racism and religious bigotry. Today, as he fights his own battle with Parkinson’s disease, he’s a champion for research and awareness.

Muhammad Ali recently celebrated his 70th birthday and, while he’s lost his share of fights, what makes him the greatest is that he kept on fighting. He inspires me to do the same.

The great lesson to remember in this story is to always get back up. No matter what life throws at you you can survive and learn from what has happened. Be prepared to go out and get what you deserve.

The challenges of being a networker

Over the years we have had a few challenges in both our networking business and personal lives but the one that is most common with this business is controlling what goes on in our heads.

In a job or conventional business there are many things that keep you on track. But, in a home based networking business (run either full time or part time) it is very easy to be distracted and to lose your motivation.

To keep on the straight and narrow, we need to learn ………..

  • to be consistent and persistent
  • to be disciplined
  • to always look for the positive in any situation
  • people skills
  • to focus on the productive activities
  • to set our own goals
  • to be self-motivated
  • to invest in our business and personal development
  • to deal with frustration
  • to plan to ensure we achieve our goals
  • to be disciplined and do what needs to be done when it needs doing
  • to recognise that we are on a journey of personal and business development

Most of the activities we do in our business are not difficult to do. We do not perform any duties that are highly technical. We don’t need any physical fitness or great manual dexterity. We just need to learn to control our head and our heart so that we can maximise our success.

Since starting our networking business several years ago we have experienced great personal development within ourselves and can see the benefits that it provides.

Job prospects to worsen, says study

This headline and report caught my eye this morning. It is a stark reminder that the prospects of lower unemployment figures are getting less. Take a read –

‘Job prospects are set to worsen in the coming months as firms make workers redundant, with unemployment sliding closer to the three million mark, according to a new report.

A survey of 1,000 employers also revealed a further widening of a North-South divide in the jobs market, said the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

The difference between the number of employers intending to hire new staff and those warning of cuts has fallen to the lowest figure since the end of the last recession in 2009, the study showed.

The CIPD said the findings reinforced its prediction that unemployment could reach 2.85 million by the end of the year unless business conditions improved. The jobless total increased to 2.68 million last month and is expected to rise again when new figures are published by the Office for National Statistics on Wednesday.’

But, why do people feel that they have to have a JOB ? I can safely say that the majority of people in employment today ‘do not like their job’ and do it because it pays the bills and provides for their family. Why don’t people follow their dreams and achieve all that they dream and desire?

Society today has programed most people to ‘fit in’ and go with the crowd. But, there is another way ! What would you do if you could work the hours YOU wanted to, take a holiday when YOU wanted to, and earn the money that YOU wanted to? If you want to learn more about how we can help you achieve all that you want out of life (and a lot more besides) then feel free to take a look at our website www.icanhelpu.co.uk or contact us directly. We would love to hear from you.

Facebook to offer free adverts

The great news announced today is that Face book are going to allow small businesses to advertise for free, the report says -

“Facebook has announced plans to help thousands of small firms by offering free advertising to boost their chances of growing their business.

The firm will give away £4.2 million-worth of adverts to tens of thousands of small businesses across Europe following the launch of a series of roadshows being run in conjunction with the British Chambers of Commerce on building Facebook business pages.

A new report by Deloitte showed that Facebook has supported 232,000 jobs across Europe and contributed £2.2 billion to the UK economy.

Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said: “The report shows that Facebook is about a lot more than sharing pictures or keeping up with friends. Increasingly, social media means growth and jobs.

“As the Deloitte study highlights, social media is proving particularly valuable for small and medium-sized businesses, which form the backbone of the European economy.

“The impact of social media is a bright spot in challenging times, but growth won’t happen on its own. We need to make sure that we invest in the right education, training, technology and networks so that social media can continue to drive innovation and economic growth.”

Let’s hope that this is done on a fare basis and allows everyone to take advantage of the offer. People running their own MLM Business earning an extra income should be able to advertise too. We will keep you up to date when more information is available.

What happened on Blue Monday?

Well, you’ve done it. You made it through the single most depressing day of the year.  Yesterday Monday 23rd January was calculated by boffins to be the most depressing day of the year or as the media call it ‘Blue Monday’.

Factors including weather, post Christmas credit card bills, low motivation, broken resolutions and it not being pay day, combine to make folk feel at a particularly low ebb. Or so they say.

Where do they get these ideas from?  There’s even a split in the bid for Blue Monday, some saying it was actually last Monday the 16th. But you didn’t feel it then either. Did you?

I thought not.

You have a choice. You can choose to dwell on negative aspects or you can choose to look on the positive side -

  • The weather may be colder but the daylight is getting longer.
  • You may not have as much cash but you have a choice to earn an extra income
  • You may have slipped up on your resolutions but you can start again – NOW!
  • Your motivation may be low but you have a whole year ahead of you! Imagine what you could do.

Some may be the small things, but the little changes you make now will get you on the right track for fantastic 2012.

Start again today !

I came across this report earlier today that is quite a startling read. Take a look -

‘Citizens Advice helped clients with over 96,000 fuel debt problems last year Four out of ten people are worried they cannot afford their next energy bill, according to new research.

Citizens Advice (CA), which commissioned the report, said it helped clients with over 96,000 fuel debt problems last year.

CA chief executive Gillian Guy said: “We know hikes in prices have put extra pressure on people’s budgets at a time when money is already tight. Day in day out our bureaux help people who can’t afford their fuel bills.

The study found that 43% of people are worried that they cannot afford their next fuel bill while one in two say energy bills will put a strain on their finances this year.’

The economic climate is still not improving and this report just goes to show how many households are feeling the pinch. Do you think they could all benefit from earning an extra £200 – £300 a month? Well we would love to show them how. If you would like to know how please take a look at our website www.icanhelpu.co.uk or contact us directly, it would be great to hear from you.

Do you remember those New Year resolutions you made about 168 hours ago?

You know the ones:

  • I will transform my health by working out and eating a healthy diet.
  • I will earn an extra income to pay off my debts and save for my future.
  • I will find a job that I can work from home and have time freedom.

I could go on……….

New Year’s resolutions are always hard because just one bad day (or bad minute!) can cause you to feel like you have failed and that feeling can lead to people giving up on their goals.

We all have a limited time here on earth and if you think that life isn’t a race, wait until you hand the keys of your car to your son or daughter, when you could have sworn that just yesterday, you were holding her in your arms and rocking them to sleep.

Life is a race, but the good news is that life is not a sprint.

Accomplishing great things in life requires a series of good decisions every day, but remember that success is not just doing the right things. It’s doing enough of the right things!

So, as we move into the 7th day of the New Year, do yourself a favour and focus on what you can accomplish. Look forward, not back. Pat yourself on the back for the good decisions you have made over the past few days and work on the stuff that you can improve on.

And say this to yourself “I can do this. Yes there will be a struggle. Yes, life will throw some curveballs, but there is nothing I cannot achieve”.

Look to your future.
